Ariel Alfredo Montenegro Casella (born 3 November 1975 in Buenos Aires) is an Argentine footballer who currently plays with Peñarroya CF in the Tercera División, as a midfielder.
He holds an Italian passport, and is the older brother of Daniel Montenegro, also a professional footballer.
Montenegro played, in his country, for Club Atlético San Lorenzo de Almagro, Club Atlético Belgrano and Club Atlético Independiente (teaming up with sibling Daniel in the latter). In 2000, he moved to Spain, with second level's Córdoba CF, remaining in the country the following eight years, without however making his debuts in its topflight - he also had a small stint, early in 2005-06, with Segunda División B side Pontevedra CF.
In July 2008, Montenegro returned home, joining Gimnasia y Esgrima de Jujuy.
